Top Five Posts of 2014

Very few of our readers look like this, of course, except S in Vancouver who we know often just wears impractical shoes when on her computer!

In the tradition of those dreadful "best of" TV shows which appear on the less imaginative stations at this time of the year, we are going to present our second annual review of the most popular posts on Venus Observations.  Firstly, we would like to thank everyone who drops by and, especially, comments.  Your feedback is very welcome, as are requests for features, which we try to do if we can. One thing we are planning to do over the holidays is look back at those requests we have had which we haven't been able to grant and see if we can get some of those done.  With requests for particular centrefolds, however, they have to fit in the monthly review plan we have so if, for example, we have posted all of our available May girls then we won't be able to post another until next May has been and gone.

We had more than 2.75 million visits this year which is about 33% more than in 2013 and we are approaching the big 10 million, which we should hit in about a month.  We have also had a 15% rise in followers too.  We managed 98 posts so far this year, as compared with 67 last year.  We have a number of posts nearing completion, as we often work on several simultaneously, including our next Pubic Wars post which should be done very shortly.

So here are the top 5 viewed posts of those we published this year.

1. Venus Revealed:  The Pubic Wars Part 11 1979 part 3

Posted March. 43,236 views.

This edition of our long-running Pubic Wars series took extended looks at English model Rosemary England, Danish model Helle Kjaer and the history of British naturist magazine Health & Efficiency, all of which no doubt contributed to its number one place.

2. Polish Eurovision Song Contest Venuses: Luxuria Astaroth, Paula Tumala and Ola Ciupa

Posted May.  36,818 views

The Eurovision Song Contest often throws out a number of lovely Continental pieces to admire and this year we had two (four?) in the shapes of Polish models Paula Tumala and Ola Ciupa, whose suggestive country girl actions on stage caused a right old froth amongst the politically correct brigade.  Agent Triple P travels to Poland quite regularly and there are some truly lovely women in the country but then the first girl to strip naked for us, in our year between school and college, was Polish so we may be biased!  A big score for this one caused by the general media frenzy at the time.

3. Venus Revealed: The Pubic Wars Part 11 1979 part 4

Posted August.  14,101 views.

Our main distraction, from our chronological look at men's magazines of the period in this edition of the Pubic Wars, was German Model Ursula Buchfellner.  As she isn't so well known as some of the women in the previous Pubic Wars post it explains the lower view count, we suspect, and the fact that it has only been on the site for four months.

Posted August. 12,915 views

The most viewed individual girl this year was beautiful Penthouse Pet Susan Gabrielson, in a sensuous pictorial by Dieter Schmidt.

Last year the top four posts were from our Pubic Wars series but this year two individual girls have made the top five.  The second is another Penthouse Pet from 1986 (it was something of a classic year), Michelle Walker, photographed by David Schoen, who delivered some of the most abandoned shots of a Penthouse Pet to that point.

We are, perhaps, guilty of not posting enough art features this year but the most popular was our one on Chris Achilleos' cover paintings for the Raven Swordsmistress of Chaos series with 1279 views.

More lovely girls to come in 2015!

A Happy Christmas to all our readers!

As we approach ten million visits we offer a quick festive thank you to all who stop by and, especially, comment.  We really appreciate your input.  We'd also like to thank our international picture researchers and ideas contributors: Sophie, Carole and Bettina who don't look anything like this ( although just as attractive - except for Bettina who does look a little like one of these young ladies!).    The illustration, by the way, is from a December 1954 calendar by Bill Randall, so is more than sixty years old.

We have a number of new posts underway for after the holiday period.

Have a good time, everyone.

Venus Review of the Year

Virna Lisi (1936-2014)

Time for another meaningless seasonal list.  In this case we look at those young ladies who have floated across our consciousness and improved our feelings of well being during 2014.

Best Playboy Playmate Venus

We admit to being biased on this one because July 2014 Playmate Emily Agnes is also from Surrey and, indeed comes from the same town our sister was born in.  Playboy's Playmates have been much improved this year with a lot less silicone and disfiguring tattoos.

Best TV girl Venus

No, not someone with gender identity issues but the girl from television we responded most to.  This has to be leggy Irish I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, Now presenter Laura Whitmore, whose ludicrously short skirts engendered tingling feelings in our fingers.

Best Film Venus

All the buzz and the Bond Girl role was for Lea Seydoux but when we actually watched Blue is the Warmest Colour we much preferred Adèle Exarchopoulos, who was not only more attractive but sexier too.

Best rediscovered classic film Venus

We recently watched Forbidden Planet (1956) again after many, many years and realised how utterly gorgeous Anne Francis was, in a selection of what must have been the shortest hemlines ever seen in the movies until that point.

Best Single Photograph

This has to be this shot of models Candice Swanpoel and Liliy Aldridge from Russell James' book of photographs of Victoria's Secret models.

Best Artistic Discovery

The sensual art of Italian illustrator Umberto Brunelleschi, who was previously unknown to Agent Triple P.  We discovered him while researching some of our Eighteenth Century works for The Seduction of Venus.

Most Unexpected Venus

The selection of Playboy Bunny girls at Waterloo station in October, collecting for breast cancer charities.

Best Calendar Venuses

Agent Triple P used to enjoy Austrian wine until, in an almost industry destroying scandal in the early eighties, winemakers were caught adding diethylene glycol (a constituent of anti-freeze) to their wines.  Actually, as a result, Austrian wine became better regulated and much improved, although you still can't sell it in Britain without anti-freeze jokes.  So, the young Austrian female winemakers get together every year to produce a calendar to help boost sales.  So here is the splendidly full bodied Monika Mörwald of Weingut Mörwald.  Nice jugs.

Most  Enjoyable Erotic Film

Given we have a new lady friend to watch these with, we have been digging out some unwatched ones from our collection and she has contributed a few too.  Our favourite was In the Sign of the Lion (Løvens tegn) (1976); a Danish sex comedy which managed to be funny and sexy.  We watched in a French version but fortunately her French is better than mine, as it had really quite a convoluted plot.  Lots of enjoyable faux period lingerie!

Most missed Venus

The incandescently gorgeous Virna Lisi, star of one of our favourite films, How to Murder Your Wife, who died last week.  A proper appreciation of her will follow in the New Year.

Cycling Venus 5: in the studio

Well, this lady isn't really cycling and, in fact, given she seems to be attempting to ride a bike side-saddle, she wouldn't get very far anyway.  Dating from about 1900, by the look of the bike and her hair, she is rather incongruously posed on this piece of modern machinery against an oddly classical back drop.  Still, she is a fetching young lady indeed and who wouldn't want to take her for s spin?

Venus on the Cover: a second update

Every home should have one

We have now substantially updated our post on men's magazine covers of the sixties.  Our fifties covers post was updated yesterday and we will start work on the seventies post in the next week or so.

Venus on the Cover: update

January 1959

We have been working on another feature looking at the covers of American men's magazines; this time for the seventies.  In the meantime we have significantly updated our post on the fifties with many more pictures of magazine covers from the period.  We have now updated the sixties one shortly too.

Centrefold Venus of the Month 52: Lucia St Angelo, September 1977

We've been working on a post looking at the most visited posts on Venus Observations for 2014.  One of those was a post we did on the pictorial for the Penthouse Pet of the Month for June 1986, Susan Gabrielson.  That pictorial had been photographed by Dieter Schmidt and we mentioned in it that he had done an earlier upskirt-style Pet pictorial.

So now, we thought it was a good time to go back in time nine years for the pictorial he shot of Lucia St Angelo for the September 1977 issue. She is not to be confused with the current Czech porn star who uses the same name.  Penthouse was launched in the US in September 1969 so this was their eighth anniversary issue.

The first photograph in the pictorial gives us a good view of Lucia's luxuriant black bush.  The accompanying text said that she was Italian and wittered on about her boyfriend's Ferrari and having sex in the Roman Forum after dark.  All nonsense of course but she does look Italian.

One thing that characterised Lucia's pictorial was that there were quite a lot of very small images scattered around the larger ones so if some of these look a little blurred it is because on the page they were only an inch or two across.

This one is a very rare example, in this set, of Lucia flashing her breast.  She keeps her top half covered pretty much throughout the pictorial.

Lucia wears a fetching pair of boots in many of her photographs which, with her covered top, makes her legs and bottom nicely vulnerable looking.  A good tactile effect.

Here we have the first two of Schmidt's characteristic upskirt shots of Lucia.  This pictorial is particularly potent for Triple P as it reminds him of an Italian girl he got involved with when travelling to Italy a lot in the mid-eighties.

We ended up, over the eight years that we had to go to Italy for work, having a number of Italian girlfriends.  Although they weren't all dark haired like Lucia there were certainly a few like this.  Dark bushes were a novelty for Triple P, after a string of redheads and blondes.

The biggest shock was discovering the dark tufts that some of them had around their anuses.  Our blondes and redheads had not only had much paler hair down below but there was less of it.  In contrast, Lucia has a quite well thatched arsehole.

Another rare glimpse of Lucia's, really rather perfect, nipple and an even rarer smile.  Schmidt always had his girls looking miserable but this smiling one is lovely and Lucia is quite transformed.

These final three shots from the pictorial are really the ultimate expression of upskirt shots in Penthouse to that point.  The final one of Lucia in her voluminous peasant top and her magnificently presented pussy under her skirt, is one of Penthouse's nicest of the seventies, in Triple P's view.

We have a few outtakes of Lucia too, starting with some where she isn't wearing her skirt.

Here is another one of Lucia with the white blanket which is very similar to the shot which appeared in the magazine.

The final ones are all of Lucia in her blue ruched top and flowery skirt.  Firstly. we are presented with her from the rear and that enticingly fluffy tail.

The last four, as do the other similar ones, remind us of our friend S who is a similar colouring and also tends to dispense with knickers in the summer, which is most distracting.  In fact S has recently complained that there "hasn't been enough pussy" in Venus Observations the last month or so so we hope she likes these.
